John R. Owen
Bennett Jones LLP is pleased to announce that John R. Owen has joined our burgeoning Toronto office as a partner in our Tax group. John's practice is restricted to income tax matters with particular focus on corporate domestic and international tax planning, syndication structuring and implementation, mergers and acquisitions, public and private share, partnership unit and trust unit offerings, structured financing and taxpayer representation and litigation.
Called to the Ontario Bar in 1986 and the British Columbia Bar in 1992, John graduated in law from the University of Toronto in 1984 and received an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1997. John is a past contributing editor of Canada’s Tax Treaties and Window on Canadian Tax, publishes articles in the Canadian Tax Journal and regularly speaks at tax conferences and seminars. Prior to joining Bennett Jones LLP, John practised as a tax partner with another major Canadian law firm.
